PRIMARY CONNECTION
The monthly newsletter of Seymour Primary School
SEPTEMBER 2008
Note from the Principal:
We have had a picture perfect
beginning to the new school year except for the copy machine which has
delayed the printing of this newsletter! Please accept our
apology.
Our goal is to provide a safe
environment with uninterrupted instruction and learning for your
children. We value your role as parents and ask you to partner
with us. We encourage your support and volunteerism.
We are looking forward to increasing
student achievement and improving our school. We hope you will
join us in making this a reality. Our fund raisers this year will
provide staff development, special guest programs, computer
replacements, and playground improvements. Improving our school
and the children’s education is important at Seymour Primary.
Please consider how you can be involved.

Kickball Tournament
Our fall physical activity is a
kickball tournament that involves our parents!
Round 1 (Sept. 9) will match kindergarten parents against staff.
Round 2(Oct. 7) will pair 1st grade parents against 2nd grade
parents. The winners of both groups will play for the
championship in Nov. Please send a note to your child’s teacher
letting her know that you plan to play on the parent team. The
game will start at 11:30 and last approximately one hour or less.
Come and let your child see that you love kickball, too!
For those parents who cannot make it,
we will have a spring competition with another sport.

COMMUNICATION
We are experiencing some difficulty
with our Seymour Primary website. Our new website is currently
under construction and we hope to have it up and running sometime this
month. However, communication is very important to us.
Please contact the office at 573-2196 to set up a conference if you
have questions or concerns about your child’s education. Thank
you for your patience while we implement some major changes to our
website.
Holiday heroes
Last week our school kicked off our
Fall Fund Raising Program with Mountain Empire Promotions. We
will be selling from “Holiday Heroes”, a collection of giftware and
confections. The proceeds from this sale will benefit our
students through various activities and projects; however, our two main
goals are to increase technology in our classrooms and update our
playgrounds. We hope to be able to replace many of our old
computers. We also want to do some major updates to our three
playgrounds by adding shade areas, wheelchair accessible picnic tables,
and replacing the wooden structure on the 1st grade playground.
We have reminded our students that
they are not to go door to door selling. We do ask that parents
contact family and friends and offer the opportunity to support Seymour
Primary by purchasing products from the catalog.
Please note that this is a pre-paid sale.
The money along with the forms are
due September 10th. Delivery date is approximately October 6th.
The end of the sale Mega Party is scheduled for October 16th.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you bring your child to school in the morning, would you consider
volunteering from 7:35 – 7:55 a.m. to help open car doors for students
who are dropped off out front? Our teachers report to their
classrooms at 7:35 and we could sure use your help out front.
